Deborah has always appreciated art her whole life. It wasn’t until her mother was diagnosed with cancer around 2006 that she started painting more to help inspire those around her, including herself. She started off by helping the elementary school’s chorus programs by painting backdrops on rolls of paper and later volunteered to paint kids’ theatre backdrops and props. Most of her paintings involve water or sunsets, since it is the way she enjoys relaxing and getting away from it all, and healing – her sources of inspiration.

In 2015, Deborah was inspired to invite several P.O.W. Artists to paint Adirondack chairs, along with herself, for the Casselberry Chamber’s Silent Auction and has coordinated the artists each year since: inviting local artists, students and adults, to paint chairs and tables for the Chamber’s Prosperity Fund to help local high school students. It was around this time she was also invited to become a “Friend of the P.O.W. Artists and has been exhibiting her pieces in the Journey to Recovery show every year since, sharing pieces she painted that helped her family get through their journey with cancer.

She had a piece displayed at Advent Health throughout COVID in 2020, joined the P.O.W. Artists in the 2021 exhibit at the Gateway Center of the Arts in DeBary, and as of November 2021 has the honor of officially being a member of the P.O.W. Artists themselves.
